In New York Times, Ross Douthat (November 14, 2015) article; “A Crisis Our Universities Deserve”, asserts that in today's generation universities are more interested in research instead of transmitting knowledge to their students. This article has been well researched and developed by using logic and facts that makes Douthat more trustworthy. Douthat developes this article to send parents and students a message about the universities they are attending. Students in missouri are “hunger striking” in tents outside their university. Slowly universities have lost traditional sense of community, mission and moral purpose. This work is appealed to students who will and are attending universities all around the world.
Ross Douthat wants to inform the public of the situation that is happening in universities, changing the way they teach and instruct the students whom are paying lots of money to get an education from their professors. Instead they are receiving not enough knowledge. Ross Douthat gains credibility by giving information, on this important event happening in universities around America. Changing gradually from an institution designed to transmit knowledge into an institution designed to serve technology. His intentions are to inform the public of the situation happening from the 19th century and the 1950’s. After reading this article I have realized that universities and colleges have become less about learning and more about passing.
